A horse. That's what she needed. As Aislinn walked through the township that was the Aurora, she'd been admiring the lovely land they lived on, the beauty surrounding them all, and the thought suddenly hit her. She needed a horse. She wasnt entirely certain why, persay. Although, she'd always loved the animals, as beautiful and magestic as they were, she'd never had the chance to actually purchase one. Maybe that was why her feet lead her to the home of Dakota Fisher.
Although she'd never actually met Dakota, she'd heard about him from other people in the town, and from a few of her friends on the royal guard. He was excellent at raising and training horses, and his was the only stable in town. Stepping up to the door to his house, she couldnt help but wonder what he was like. She was sure she'd probably seen him around town before - after all, the Aurora wasnt that huge - but it would be nice to finally be able to put a face to the name. Lifting her hand, she knocked on the door briefly before taking a step back to await an answer - if anyone happened to be home.
Thinking back to her own home brought a smile to her face. She could just imagine what her son, Kieran, was up to right now. He was probably with her parents, baking or reading, running around with her father. Kieran was a lot like her. Stubborn, shy, a little nosey. And he happened to be the light of her life. He was the most important person in her life, and she was the most important in his. Forget the fact that his father wasnt around. They had all they needed right here and now. As she stood there, staring absentmindedly at the door - off in her own little world - she couldnt help but wonder, vaguely, what it would be like if Kieran had someone to look up to as a father aside from her own father... But it didnt really matter.

It was midday and Dakota was in his at home gym, working on his equipment. Sweat was dripping down his face and soaking his gray wife beater. He was pumping his arms up and down, his back pressed against the bench and he hoisted the iron bar up and down. He grunted as he pushed up, his muscles quivering in his arms. This was one of the biggest weights that he had put on in a long time. Usually he used lower weights because he had been hauling hay bales, but they were all loaded in the barn safe and sound. There had been storm clouds blowing through the land and he didn't want all his hay to mold.
Dakota was about to do another couple reps when he heard a knock at his door. He lifted the bar up for the last time and placed the bar back into the rack with one final grunt. Then, grabbing the white towel beside him on the ground he dabbed the sweat off of his face and rung the cloth around his neck. He got up on his stiff legs, stretching them a few times before he walked towards the door. Pushing his hair through his brown hair it stood up on end, looking a bit like tussled bed head. Opening the front door, he blinked in surprise as he saw a very beautiful woman standing in front of him. "Uh, hello there," he said, slightly confused. What brought this lady to his front door? Dakota leaded on the door frame, casually crossing his tattoo clad arms. He was still slightly sweaty and had the towel wrapped across his neck. His gray sleeveless shirt was darker gray around his neck and he had shorts with his crisp white running shoes. You could tell that he had never worn them outside before.
He looked the female up and down quickly before resting his green eyes on her face. He had never seen her around before, and he had lived in this house for a long time. "What can I do for you?" he asked, still leaning casually on his frame. What did bring her here? Usually when strangers showed up on his door they were here to ask about his horses. Was she here for a horse? Or maybe she was one of those angry neighbours that were mad at him for having so many horses. Slightly tense, he waited for her to answer him.

It was Autumn and Ash had dressed for the weather. She'd worn a pair of dark jeans, a green tank top that buttoned up at the very top - all the buttons undone - a scarf, her black suade flat boots and her fall jacket. The silver Triquetra pendent around her neck shown only by the opening of her jacket and the shirt beneath. She was a practical dresser, if ever anyone had met one. The fact that she was out on a chilly day walking around aimlessly to find some house she'd never been to before to buy a horse from a man she'd never met or seen before might have been considered reckless. After all, even within the village, there was always the chance of something happening, some sort of danger, if you asked anyone else. But she wasnt worried.
Standing there waiting for someone to answer the door, a lot of things had gone through her mind. Kieran was at the top of that list, as always. Never the only thing, but always right at the front of her brain. He was - and always would be - the most important person in her life. She'd been determined to raise him instead of giving him up for adoption when she had the chance. She didnt have the heart to put her own child up for adoption, like so many others did. Ash had made a promise to herself when he was born that she'd do anything and everything in her power to protect her son, and she'd kept that promise through the years.
When she realized that the fact that no one was home was a distinct possibility, she took a step away from the door and was about to turn around to leave when she heard it crack open. Turning slightly, she looked over to her shoulder to see someone she really didnt expect. Granted, she'd never met Dakota Fisher before, but somehow she imagined him as an older man, married, grey hair.. She surely didnt expect the attractive man before her. He wore workout clothes, shorts, wife beater, sneakers. His hair was dark, cropped short and it looked almost like he'd just gotten out of bed, which made him even more attractive. Not to mention the tattoos that covered both his arms. Blinking, she opened her mouth to say something, and... nothing came out.
Dont drool.. Do not drool.. She thought to herself before clearing her throat and turning to face him fully, "Uhhh, hi." she said. Lame reply, really, but what could you do when your eyes kept moving back to the muscular, tattoo clad arms of the man leaning in the doorway in front of her. Focusing on his eyes after a moment, she slid her hands into the pockets of her jacket, "Sorry, I didnt mean to.. uhmmm, interupt you. I just came to see about purchasing a horse." And possibly jumping into bed with you... Nope, nope, cant do that...

Dakota couldn't help but blinking when the female looked at him over her shoulder, batting those pretty long lashes of hers. He cleared his throat as he gave her a quick up and down before gazing at her eyes. What had she come to his house for? He didn't get many visitors, usually only people coming to his house my mistake or the lovely mailman that he would invite in for tea at times. Oh yeah, and those buying a horse. But they usually came with a cart prepared or something to take the horse away with. The male gave her a crooked smile, most of the grin settling on the left side of his face. She seemed a little dumbfounded by him, her eyes often resting on his arms. He couldn't help but flex them slightly, making it look like he was giving his shoulders a good stretch. Hey, he couldn't help it - she was beautiful.
Dakota's mind focused on the current situation when she stuttered, seeming at a loss for words. Damn, he was really having an effect on this girl. He almost wanted to laugh, but bit his lip to hold it in. When she was actually able to form a proper sentence he let his chuckle come out, pushing a hand through his hair. "You didn't interrupt much, it's almost feeding time anyways," he said, the alarm going off on his wrist watch. He quickly turned it off and then swung the door wide, inviting her in with a grand sweeping gesture of his arm. "Come on in, I need to get changed if we are going out back," pulling back from the door frame he kicked off his runners and quickly jogged up the stairs. He stopped at the top of them and leaned down across the wooden banister, smiling down at her. "There should be a pot of tea on, go ahead and help yourself," with that he tucked into the nearest doorway, quietly clicking it behind him.
It didn't take long for Dak to change, he just tossed off his shorts and replaced them with a pair of ripped, dirty work jeans and tossed a plaid button up over top of his workout shirt. He tousled his hair a little bit more and put on clean socks before he left, hopping down the stairs to see where the girl had gone. That is when he realized that he didn't even know her name. Finding the blonde haired beauty he smiled and stuck out his hand. "My name is Dakota Fisher by the way," he said, feeling stupid for not saying anything sooner. Once introductions were out of the way he walked past the kitchen and to the double paneled sliding glass door and slid it open, putting on his muddy gumboots on that were just outside of the door. "The horses are just out back, they are probably waiting for their dinner," he said with a chuckle, placing his hands in his pocket as he walked to the stairs that led off of the wooden deck and down to the paddock.
Once Dakota reached the gate, he was surprised that the horses weren't there. They knew their schedule and would usually be here pestering him. He squinted and looked down the field, seeing them in the trees. He scoffed at them, shaking his head. No matter, it was easy enough to call them. The brown haired man placed his fingers in his mouth and whistled, two short followed by one long one. All the horses heads snapped up and whickered happily, trotting out of the cover of the trees and over towards the two of them. He chuckled at his large beasts, watching as some of them racing each other to get to him first. "Hello there my darlings," he said, placing his hand under their noses as they stuck their head over the fence. Some of them nibbled on his clothing when others neighed softly at him, brushing their soft whiskers against his arms. Laughing, he pushed their noses away. "Behave you silly beasts, we have company," he said, turning to look at the woman who had probably made it to the paddock by now.
"So these are my horses, all 14 of them. The youngest is 2 years old," he said, pointing to the smaller dark brown horse with a black mane and tail and one white sock, "and the oldest is this fella here, he just turned 17." Dakota playfully grabbed the old mans grayed muzzle, pulling down his white speckled head to play with his forelock. "I have a lot of different breeds as well, and most are all different colours and marking as you can see. If you see one you like, we can take them out for a ride. Right after I feed them of course," he added quickly after a younger mare pushed her head against his back, shoving him towards the storage barn that held the hay and oats. He laughed again, shaking his head. "I swear they think they are in charge sometimes."

Ash knew she probably looked like a moron standing there, drooling over this guy. But damn he was attractive. She couldnt get over how nice a voice he had, and how nice a body as well. The fact that he was flexing his muscles when he noticed her looking at his arms only pointed out that he knew she was drooling. That wasnt embarrassing at all. With a blink of her eyes, she couldnt help but notice the fact that her face was heating up, her cheeks clearly turning a lovely shade of red as she looked at him.
Snapping out of her own daze when he spoke, she cleared her throat again. Feeding time?... Oh, right... Horses. Stepping inside when he opened the door, pretty much inviting her in with just that movement, she nodded, looking around, "Thank you." she said, watching as he jogged up the stairs. Chuckling, she headed into the kitchen and poured herself a mug of tea. She could smell peppermint and lemongrass in it, and it was heavenly. Lifting the mug to her nose, she took a deep breath, savoring the scents that wafted from the contents of her mug.
It wasnt long before Dakota came downstairs wearing a pair of ripped work jeans and a plaid button down. He looked just as good in this outfit as he had the last, although she smiled faintly at the sight of the plaid. Not many people liked that kind of shirt. Looking over at him when he introduced herself, she nodded, "I know, I have a friend in the royal guard who recommended I come see you. I'm Aislinn McGarrett. My friend's call me Ash." she said softly before following him outside. Walking behind him, she couldnt help the fact that her eyes drifted down his body and her gaze landed on his rear. Mmm.. nice ass.. she thought to herself before blinking and looking away again.
Focusing on the land around them, she smiled. He lived in a beautiful area of the Aurora, and there was a certain charm about this place. It wasnt long before she saw the horses come at his whistle, and she watched them nudge and push at him with their noses. Smiling softly, she moved over to the fence and held her hand out to a strawberry roan colored male with a white star on his forehead, watching as he nosed her hand in a friendly manner. He was gorgeous, as were all of the others in the field before them. Lifting her eyes to Dakota, she was almost surprised to find him watching her and smiled, "They're beautiful."
Chuckling when one of the mares shoved Dakota toward the strage barn, she smiled, "That sounds great." she said, turning to watch him and laughing again when her strawberry roan male shoved her shoulder with his nose, "Hey, now, no need to push." she said, rubbing his neck.
